It is important that one treats their cookware in the right manner. You need to know the right way to take care of your cooking utensils so that they can last longer. Before you can put these through the dishwasher, you should be aware of the right steps to do so. If your cookware is made of stainless steel, then you need to know the right way to wash them and in the right temperature. In this article, we shall discuss some tips to help you maintain your portable induction cooktops.

Here are 4 tips to maintaining your portable induction cooktop:

#1. Regular cleaning

It is important that you clean the cooktops on a regular basis. This is one of the best ways to maintain them and ensure that they will serve you for a longer period of time. To clean the cooktop, you should let it cool down before you can use a damp cloth and sponge for removing any food spills on it.

#2. Heavy cleaning the cooktop

You will also need to do heavy cleaning of the cooktop every once in a while. At times there will be hardened residue on the cooktop that has to be cleaned off the surface. For these surfaces, you should use a ceramic cooktop cleaner and clean it with a cooktop cleaner pad. You can then scrape off the residue from the cooktop. In case of any excessive cleaner that remains on the cooktop, you should use a dry cloth to wipe it off.

#3. Cleaning the different parts

The various parts of the cooktop can be cleaned separately or in a different manner to achieve the best results. For the ceramic surface, a soft cloth together with ceramic cooktop cream can be used to clean this surface. For the stainless-steel parts, you can use grain to wipe the surface. Use a non-abrasive cleaner such as warm soapy water for this purpose. Any watermarks on the induction cooktop should be removed. Hard water spots will likely settle over the surface. Undiluted white vinegar should be used with a clean cloth should be used to remove the spots.  You can then apply a little cooktop cleaner for a better finish.

There are a number of cleaners that you should avoid so that you do not damage the cooktop. Do not use any of the chlorine bleach cleaners. Caustic cleaners and dishwashing agents should be avoided at all costs. Flammable cleaners, metal scouring pads, and powdery cleaners should be avoided as well.

#4. Avoid physical damage

Any physical damage can make the induction cooktop not last as long. You may probably cause some light scratches on the cooktop but these can always be cleaned off. Ensure that the pans and pots that you use on the induction cooktop are thoroughly cleaned and smooth enough not to damage the surface of the cooktop. You should beware of your diamond engagement rings as they can damage the cooktop through scratches and contact.
